Police have arrested the general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Islamic University unit in a case filed under the Digital Security Act
Rakibul Islam Rakib, 25, son of Rezaul Karim, of Peyaratola in Kushtia sadar, was arrested from Sadar upazila on Friday night.
Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Sadar Police Station, said Rakib was arrested in a case filed by former general secretary of Chhatra League’s IU unit Jewel Rana Halim, reports UNB.
Rakib’s family members claimed that he was shown arrested when he went to Kushtia Sadar police station for filing a case after an unknown person threatened to kill him over phone.
Earlier on November 2, former general secretary of Chhatra League’s IU unit Halim filed the case with Islamic University police station after an audio clip purportedly containing conversation between Rakib and IU BCL leader Jubayer went viral on Facebook.
In that conversation, Jubayer raised allegations against Halim and Kushtia 3 MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif’s personal secretary Raju.
