The light drizzle due to the imminent cyclone Bulbul could not dampen the exciting atmosphere
At a time when children have very little to no exposure to the outside world, several hundred children from various schools had the opportunity to spend some quality fun time under the open sky with lots of fanfare and excitement.
Some children were seen skipping rope, playing badminton, football, snakes and ladders, Kabadi and tug of war. Some others were seen drawing, taking part in self-defence exercises, puppet show, recital, storytelling, magic tricks and pottery workshops.
Frobel Play School, Frobel Academy and Frobel Training Academy jointly organized the event titled ‘Parents of the Park’ at the city’s CRB Shirish Tala area yesterday.
The two-hour long event was organized to honour the upcoming Mujib Borsho, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Alihussain Akberali, chairman of BSRM Group formally inaugurated the event at 10am.
Talking about the objective of organizing such a day for the children, Huwra (Tehseen) Zohair, principal of Frobel Play School, said: “As citizens of this beautiful city, we must encourage our children to explore with curiosity, engage in creative activities and experience lasting joyful moments.”
Dr Faisal Kabir Rozars attended the event with her little daughter who reads in the nursery class at Frobel Play School.
Dr Faisal said: “The children are forced to stay indoors within the confines of the apartment as open spaces and playgrounds are shrinking alarmingly. I think such wonderful events should be organized more often where children will have the opportunity to interact with other children.”
