The Border Security Force (BSF) of India detained seven Bangladeshi youths on Tuesday, at the Hapania border area in Porsha upazila, Naogaon.

The BSF members from Kadaripara camp detained them from the 231/10 (S) pillar area when they allegedly entered the Indian territory illegally to smuggle cows, Hapania camp company commander, Border Guard Bangladesh Naik Subedar Mokles, confirmed.

The detainees are: Soibur, 26, from Dwarpal village; Atabul, 22, from Rangapukur village; Rezaul, 20, from Bishnapur Berachoki village; and Bifol, 30; Azad, 32; Jauhurl, 32; and Hakim, 36, from Kalaibari village.

Lt Col Ariful Islam, commanding officer of 16 BGB Battalion, said: “We received the news that seven Bangladeshi citizens have been captured by the BSF. We will talk to them and take necessary steps.”
