3 of a family electrocuted in Barguna

They got electrocuted in succession while trying to save each other

Three members of the same family have been electrocuted in Kakchira union of Barguna.

The incident occurred at the union’s Khastobok village early Monday.

The deceased are Hamida Begum, 40, her son Russel, 14, and her brother-in-law Delowar Hossain, 65.

Kakchira Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Alauddin Poltu confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Quoting local sources, he said: “Delowar used to secure an areca palm tree near his home with an electrocuted wire to prevent theft. On early Monday, he went to the spot to repair the wire and got electrocuted.” 

“Russel also got electrocuted as he went to rescue him. Hearing Russel’s screams, Hamida went to the spot and attempted to rescue the two, but got electrocuted as well.”

Later, locals approached the scene and found the trio dead on the spot.
