Police seized those pills from Patuakhali, Cox's Bazar and Jhenaidah in separate drives
Police arrested a father and son duo among four, and seized 91,500 yaba pills from their possession in separate drives in Patuakhali, Cox's Bazar, and Jhenaidah on Saturday.
In Patuakhali, police arrested a man and his son with 40,000 yaba pills from Neyapara village under Chakamoya union in Kalapara upazila on Saturday.
The arrested, Yusuf Howlader, 70 and his son Almas, 43 are from the same area, it was confirmed by Md. Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge(OC) of Kalapara police station.
Tipped off, police raided the home of the accused in Kalapara upazila in the early hours, and seized 40000 yaba pills, worth TK 12,000,000. A case will be filed against the duo under Narcotics Control Act, said the OC of the police station.
In Cox's Bazar, police detained a yaba smuggler with 49,000 yaba pills near Ramu Rubber garden area on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway on Saturday.
The arrested, Abdur Rahman, 38 lives in Garagia Ronginpara area in Chittagong's Lohagara upazila.
Md Abu Abdullah, inspector of Ramu Tulabagan highway police station confirmed the arrest.
Tipped off, police set up a checkpost near the Ramu Rubber garden area, and intercepted a Chittagong bound bus. After searching the vehicle, they detained Abdur Rahman with the yaba pills, and handed him over to Ramu police station. A case was filed against the arrested under Narcotics Control Act, according to the inspector.
In Jhenaidah, police arrested a drug dealer with 2500 yaba pills from Barbazar area in the district's Kaliganj upazila on Saturday.
The arrested, Ansar Ali, 50 lives in Chapatala village in Jessore's Ovoynagar thana area , it was confirmed by Mahafuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge(OC) of Kaliganj police station.
Police conducted a raid while some drug peddlers were engaged in selling the contraband pills at Barbazar area. They arrested Ansar Ali with the yaba pills, while others managed to flee the scene. A case was filed against the arrested under Narcotics Control Act with the Kaliganj police station, said the OC.
