Police suspect the child was a victim of a planned murder
An eight-year-old child has been brutally murdered, and buried in Rupsha upazila of Khulna.
The body of deceased Adnan Sami Babu was dug out from Jhileghat in Badhal village of Rupsha, on Thursday midnight, reports UNB.
He was the son of Md Jahangir Hossain from the same village, and a student of a local Qawmia Qariniya Madrasa of the area.
According to Adnan's family members, Adnan went missing after he went to offer Esha prayers in a local masjid on Thursday night.
Concerned, his family members started searching for him, and made announcements through a megaphone in the locality.
At one point, locals found freshly dug earth at a place near Jhurjhure canal in Jhileghat area, only 200 metres away from Adnan's home.
Suspecting foul play, they dug into the ground, and discovered the mutilated body of Adnan.
According to the locals, a stick was shoved down Adnan's throat, and his neck was broken. His head bore injury marks of heavy trauma, and different parts of his body showed signs of torture.
They informed the police immediately, upon which the police came, recovered Adnan's body, and sent it to Khulna Medical College morgue for autopsy.
5 held, police suspect planned murder
Five people were detained over Adnan's murder, Officer-in-Charge of Rupsha police station Mollah Jakir Hossain said.
"The child was buried after he was murdered," he said. "We have arrested five people over the matter."
However, he did not disclose their identities.
Meanwhile, after inspecting the site, Additional Superintendent of Khulna police Anisur Rahman said police are primarily suspecting that Adnan was a victim of a planned murder.
"We are investigating the matter," he said. "We will disclose more information based upon further investigation."
