Satkhira 'war criminal' held

'Akbar Ali was wanted in over 50 cases, including committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. He went undercover when International  Crimes Tribunal was formed in 2010'

Moulana Akbar Ali Khan, former Jamaat-e-Islami leader and also an accused in more than 50 cases of sabotage including crimes against humanity in 1971, has been arrested at Brozabox village of Kolaroa area in Satkhira.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Satkhira MD Mustafizur Rahman said: " Akbar Ali was wanted in over 50 cases, including committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. He went undercover when International  Crimes Tribunal was formed in 2010."

On a tip off, a team of police arrested him from his daughter's house in Brozabox village around 11 pm on Wednesday, the SP added.
