A Chapainawabganj court yesterday gave 15 years of rigorous imprisonment sentences to three members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) in a Terrorism Prevention Act case.
Judge Shawkot Ali of Additional district and sessions judge’s court of Chapainawabganj also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, to serve six additional months in jail.
Lawyer Anjuman Ara, the additional public prosecutor confirmed the matter.
According to Anjuman Ara, the JMB men were holding a secret meeting at a house in Biswanath area under Shibganj upazila of the district on October 25 of 2008.
A team of police raided the place, and held them. The then Sub Inspector (SI) of Shibganj police station Habibur Rahman filed a case against them under Terrorism Prevention Act.
Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Rafiqul Islam submitted charge sheet on September 27 of 2009.
