Udichi Shilpigosthi, a cultural organization inspired and driven by progressive thoughts celebrated its 51st founding anniversary in Gaibandha yesterday.
The organization’s Gaibandha chapter brought out a festive procession and paraded around the city in the morning, chanting the slogan ‘Ashubho Binashi Avijatray Mili Akshathe’ (Let us unite in combating evils).
The celebration also included a cultural program organized at the Central Shaheed Minar Chattar in the city last evening.
Udichi artiste’s guild was formed on 29 October in 1968 with a view to guiding the social and cultural life by mainly Satyen Sen. Other founders of Udichi were Golam Mohammad Edu, Ranesh Das Gupta, Manzoorul Ahsan Khan among others.
Udichi Shilpigosthi played a remarkable role in fostering the movement for war of liberation of Bangladesh. Several plays like ‘Alo Aschhey’, ‘Shapath Nilam’ staged by Udichi created a highly effective impact to promote the spirit of liberation. Most of the progressive intellectual of the country took part in the public awareness campaign of Udichi.
