They will be recruited to provide decent healthcare to people across the country
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said 4,500 doctors will be recruited this year to provide smooth healthcare services to people across the country.
“Shortage of human resources was the major obstacle to ensuring smooth healthcare services for the people. Our prime minister asked us to recruit 10,000 doctors. In the first phase we will recruit 4,500 this year and another 5,500 will be recruited next year,” he said on Sunday.
The minister made the statement while speaking to journalists after inaugurating the newly constructed six storied building of Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail.
“We are working to ensure proper health facilities for the people at the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently received the prestigious "Vaccine Hero" award in recognition of Bangladesh’s outstanding success in immunization vaccination for children.
Among others, Sanowar Hossain, MP, of Tangail constituency presided over the program while Joaherul Islam MP, Tanvir Hasan, MP, Ahsanul Islam, MP, Tangail district Parishad Chairman Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruk, former vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Prof Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, were present, at the program.
