The deceased was shot several times in his head

Abducted former Union Parishad chairman Dipamoy Talukder has been found dead in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati district.

Dipamay, also the headman of Ghhilachhari mouza (small administrative district), was abducted by armed assailants on gunpoint on Tuesday.

Rajasthali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mofazal Ahmed told Dhaka Tribune: “Dipamoy’s body was recovered from the woods near zero mile area of the upazila, around 7:30am on Wednesday.”

He said the deceased was shot in the head several times, and hacked in the body with sharp weapons.

The policeman also said: "Locals contacted us after discovering Dipamoy's body. Later, we visited the spot and found the body on the ground."

He also said preparations are underway to send Dipamoy's body for autopsy.

Meanwhile, locals and businessman brought out a protest rally around 8:30am the same day, demanding punishments for the miscreants involved with the murder.

They have also announced that Rajasthali bazaar will remain closed indefinitely until their demand is met.
