Bhola clash: Biplob’s brother-in-law goes missing

Bidhan Majumder, 35, and employee Sagar, were picked up from their shop on Monday evening

Bidhan Majumder, a brother-in-law of Biplob Chandra Shuvo who was recently jailed for instigating with a Facebook post, a deadly clash between police and locals in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola has gone missing. Some unidentified people picked him up from his jewelry shop in Dolarhat of the upazila. 

Bidhan Majumder, 35, and his employee Sagar were picked up from their shop on Monday evening. 

Bidhan’s father, Binoy Majumder, filed a general diary in this connection with Dolarhat police station on Tuesday. 

According to the general diary, Bidhan and his staff were picked up by some unidentified men in a microbus, reportedly to be interviewed for a private TV channel. However, both of them are still missing. 

On Sunday, four people were killed and over 200 injured in Bhola's Borhanuddin upazila when police opened fire to disperse a mob demanding punishment for a Hindu man who they believed was responsible for hate conversations against Islam on the Facebook Messenger app.

On Sunday evening, Borhanuddin police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Delwar Hossain filed a case under the Digital Security Act against Biplob and seven to eight unnamed others,  for spreading derogatory messages about Islam. 

Police and locals said messages with derogatory remarks about Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) were sent to several individuals from the Facebook ID of Biplob Chandra Shuvo.

Biplob went to Borhanuddin police station on October 19 to file a general diary, saying that his account had been hacked. Police has also detained two suspected hackers. 

A case was filed with Borhanuddin police station against 5,000 unnamed people for the mob clash with police.
