In Lakshmipur, police arrested three men for reportedly gangraping a 15-year-old Paschim Bhadur village girl on Tuesday, in Ramganj of the district
A minor and a readymade garment worker were reportedly gang-raped in Lakshmipur and Narayanganj respectively on Monday.
Police on Tuesday arrested five men in this connection, while two more who were accused in these two cases are yet to be arrested.
In Lakshmipur, police arrested three men for reportedly gangraping a 15-year-old Paschim Bhadur village girl on Tuesday, in Ramganj of the district.
The detained, Emon, Rasel, and Sharif, were among the five accused in the reported gang-rape. Prime accused Shaon and an unidentified man are still absconding.
According to the police, the girl lived alone by herself. Taking advantage of the situation and promising marriage, Shaon developed an affair with her. Luring her, the accused Shaon took the girl to his friend Emon’s house.
Shaon, Emon, and three others raped the minor repeatedly. Later, informed by locals, police rescued the girl and took her to Lakhshmipur Sadar Hospital, the police added.
Resident Medical Officer of the hospital, Dr Anowar Hossain said: "Though the girl is in critical condition, she is being given the best treatment possible."
Ramganj police station OC Anwar Hossain said: "We have arrested three and are running drives to arrest the other two."
In Narayanganj, police arrested two men yesterday for gangraping a garment worker on Monday in Kuripara of Bandar upazila in the district.
The detained, Sagir, 22, and Arman, 20, are from Kuripara of Bandar upazila in Narayanganj.
Sources said, when the woman was returning from work, finding her alone around Kuripara Khalpar, the accused two forcibly took her to an abandoned house and raped her taking turns.
Later, the girl's mother filed a case against Sagir and Arman with Bandar police station.
Confirming the incident, Bandar police station OC Rafiqul Islam said: “The accused two were arrested and produced in court.
