Police seized the vehicles, but the drivers fled the scene
A woman has been killed, and three others injured, in a collision between a bus and a truck in Nalka area on the west side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj district.
The incident occurred around 9am on Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Bangabandhu Bridge west police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Raqibur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “A Nalka bound bus collided with a brick-laden truck on Dhaka-Sirajganj highway, killing the woman on the spot.”
Later, her body was taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, where Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Faridul Islam pronounced her dead.
Three others were also injured in the incident. They are currently receiving treatment at Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial Hospital in the district.
Police seized the vehicles, but the drivers and their helpers fled the scene.
After the incident, traffic movement was interrupted in the area for a while.
