BSMRSTU 1st year student Mamun bhuyain alias Marzan, aged 20, and Zahid Sheikh, ex-employee of Brac were accused of degrading the father of Nation, and defaming the upheld prestige of the ruling party, Awami League, under Digital Security Act 2018 of 21 (2),31 (2) with 506 clause (Penal Code  1860) Friday night in Gopalgonj.

The accused used social media platform, Facebook to degrade the overall image of the current party, and the father of Nation, confirmed Tungipara Police Officer in Charge (OC) A K M Enamul Kabir.

The case was filed against the accused by Tungipara Chhatra League President, Mohd. Rezaul  Haque Biswas.

After the filing of the case, Marzan was apprehended by the law enforcers, but the other accused is still roaming free, informed the Tungipara OC.

According to the statement of the case, the accused went live on Facebook as a protest against Abrar’s death, but Tungipara Chhatra League President had a different take on the story. He said “The accused went live on Facebook so that they can defame Awami League, and nothing else, they (accused ) have nothing to do with  Abrar’s death. I have given the entire recording of their Facebook live footage to the police which shows nothing but a conspiracy against the ruling party.”
