Supply of fuel oil has been restricted in 15 districts, including the whole of Khulna division, as tank-lorry workers went on a strike demanding withdrawal of cases filed against two workers over a road accident.
The 10-hour strike started at 8am on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Other districts affected by the strike are Gopalganj, Faridpur, Shariatpur, Madaripur and Rajbari.
Sheikh Nur Islam, president of Khulna Division Tank Lorry Workers’ Union, said an accident took place in Aronghata area of Khulna on April 4.
No one was killed in the accident, but police filed a case against two workers.
The union held a meeting on Monday, where it decided to go for work abstention in protest against the police action.
Four organisations of fuel oil traders have expressed solidarity with the workers and suspended supply and transportation of fuel.
