At least 19 people have so far died in the district this year after suffering from the mosquito-borne disease
A woman died of dengue at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) on Wednesday.
Hospital authorities identified the deceased as Rafi, 45, wife of MotiRaselof Gopalganj.
KMCH’sResident Physician Dr Shoilendranath Biswas, also the coordinator of the dengue ward, said Rafi was admitted to the hospital around 2am yesterday, and she died around 10am while undergoing treatment.
“She was suffering from dengue shock syndrome,” he said.
Nineteen people have so far died of the mosquito-borne disease in the district alone this year.
Meanwhile, 254dengue patients were hospitalizedaround the country between Tuesday and yesterday morning.
Currently, 1,339 patients are being treated at different hospitals and clinics across the nation.
TheDirectorate General of Health Services (DGHS) yesterday said that 90,799 people were hospitalized with dengue across the country since January 1. Of them, 89,219were released after treatment.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) have so far confirmed the deaths of 81 dengue patients after reviewing 136 reports out of 242 cases.
