College student killed in Pirojpur road accident

A Mahindra vehicle collided against his head, causing critical injury

A male college student has been killed in a road accident near the BRAC office in Mathbaria-Tushkhali highway of Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur district.

The incident occured when a Mahindra vehicle collided against the student while he was riding an easy bike around 9pm on Saturday.

The deceased is Gani Farazi, 22, son of Selim Farazi of Bandhaghata village of the upazila. 

Mathbaria police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Masuduzzaman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Quoting witnesses, he said: “On Saturday night, Gani was commuting to the BRAC office in an easy bike with his head leaning out.”

“A Mahindra vehicle collided against his head, causing critical injury.”

Later, firefighters rescued Gani and took him to Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

On information, police went to the spot and arrested the Mahindra vehicle and its driver named Solaiman, furthered OC Masuduzzaman.

Legal action will be taken regarding the matter, he added.
