Fire service officer killed in road accident

A fire service official was killed in a road accident in Narayanganj.

The accident occurred when fire service station officer Nittya Gopal, 55, lost control of his motorbike on the road at Morogpara in Sonargaon on Wednesday.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor pronounced him dead around 5:45pm on Wednesday.

Nittya was the son of late BirendraNath Sarkar of the Kunduravillageof theGhiorupazila in Manikganj.  

Fire Services Warehouse Inspector Fakar Uddin said the deceased was the station officer of theSonargaon Fire Service.

He was on his way to Sonargaon Auditor General’s (AG) office at the time of the accident, Fakar said.

Nittya was a resident of Khilgaon in the capital.

“His body has been kept at the DMC morgue for autopsy,” DMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Khan said.
