Locals caught the teenager, teacher denies charges
A four-year-old infant was reportedly raped by a teen-age boy in Bhangura upazila Pabna on Sunday.
Police arrested the 15-year-old suspect on Monday with a case filed by the child's father on the night the incident occurred, confirmed Bhangura police station OC Masud Rana.
According to case details, on Sunday afternoon, the accused teenager took the infant to a nearby orchard and raped her. When the child screamed out in pain, the boy tried to escape from the area but was apprehended by locals. Locals took the child to Bhangura Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Medical officer at the hospital, Dr Halima Khanam, said: "The child was given first aid and sent to Pabna General Hospital for further tests."
Teacher arrested for sexually harassing student in Jhalakathi
Police arrested a primary school teacher on Monday in a case filed for sexually harassing a third grade student of his school in Kathalia upazila of Jhalakathi.
The suspect, Md Zakir Hossain of Bara Kathalia Primary School, was arrested after the girl's mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Kathalia police station OC Md Enamul Hoque confirmed the incident.
According to case details, during his Bangla class, teacher Md Zakir Hossain had been inappropriately touching the child in various places on her body for 13 days.
However, Zakir denied the allegations and said: "The case was filed against me because I was putting pressure on the girl’s family to enroll the girl in my private tuition classes. I scolded her when she was unable to answer quiz questions based on class lessons and only tried to calm her down when she was crying."
