Sec 144 imposed in Faridpur Spinning Mill area

The ban which is not applicable to common people will remain in force until further notice

Update : 27 Sep 2019, 09:48 PM

Faridpur district administration has imposed section 144, which means a ban on public gathering in the Spinning Mill area under Sadarpur upazila on early Friday.

The move came after a tension mounted between the supporters of two sons of late Khwazababa Faridpuri over establishing supremacy.

Syed Lutfor Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadarpur police station, said tension rose when followers of Mahfuzul Haque Mozaddedi prohibited the supporters of Mostafa Amir Foysal from setting up a helipad inside the spinning mill.

"It (the ban) is not applicable for the common people," clarified Executive Magistrate, and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Purobi Goldar.

The ban, which came into effect from 1am on Friday will remain in force until further notice, Goldar said.

The situation is now under control, the OC said.

Shahidul Islam Shahin filed a case on behalf of Mahfuzul Haque, and requested police to take necessary measures.

Additional police force has been deployed in the Bishwa Zaker Manzil area, the abode of Khwazababa Faridpuri.
