The unofficial death toll is 165
The deceased is Lovely Aktar, 30, wife of Jamir Ali, hailing from Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district.
Dr Shaila Nath Biswas, resident physician at KMCH, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
She said: “Lovely died around 2:30am on Wednesday, while undergoing treatment for dengue.”
Lovely was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday evening.
According to Khulna Civil Surgeon’s Office, sixteen people have died of dengue in the district so far.
Dengue situation in Bangladesh
A total of 398 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
Till 8am on Wednesday, 131 new patients were admitted in Dhaka and 267 in districts outside Dhaka.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier, the Aedes mosquito.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Wednesday, said the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country was 1,745.
A total of 75 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till September 25, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 165, so far.
As many as 680 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 1,065 people were undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since January 1 till September 25, as many as 86,155 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 84,186 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment
