CU supports Paris Agreement on Climate Change, holds rally

A stage drama along with other events took place after the rally

A rally has been organized in support of the Paris Agreement, to fight against climate change, at Chittagong University campus.

The program titled “Movement for Climate and Better World” took place at the university’s Shaheed Minar intersection on Sunday.

Chittagong University acting Vice Chancellor (VC) Shireen Akhter, and Proctor Pranab Mitra were present at the rally.

It was jointly organized by the university’s Oceanography Department, and Chittagong University Scientific Society (CUSS).

After the rally, a discussion was held.

A stage drama, along with other events, concerning climate change took place, where the students of Oceanography Department performed.

Oceanography Department Chairman, and the university VC Shireen said, the students’ understanding of this movement gave them hope in fighting climate change”.

“Swedish school girl Greta Thunberg inspired the whole world to join the global climate strike, and we have to continue this movement as well,” the VC said.

CU Assistant Professor Md Moslen Uddin Munna from the same department said: “The capitalist countries are the ones to blame for this climate change; they made us the centre of their production, and now are leaving us alone to fight against it”.
