The university imposed the restriction after Chhatra League's IU unit President SM Robiul Islam Polash and former leaders called for rallies on the campus.
Additional police personnel have been deployed to avert any unwanted incidents, the acting proctor said.
"The students have been asked to carry identity cards. They won't be allowed to enter the campus otherwise," he added.
Earlier, about 200 former leaders and activists of Chhatra League's IU unit brought out a procession in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall. They reportedly attacked Secretary Rakibul Islam Rakib, but he managed to flee.
