Police say they have found evidence of rape during preliminary investigation

Police have arrested a 65-year-old man in Rajarhat upazila, Kurigram for allegedly raping a fifth grader girl.

Both incidents took place at Rotiram Pathanpara village under Nazim Khan union on Wednesday morning, according to locals and police.

Rajarhat police OC Krishna Kumar Sarkar identified the arrestee as Abdul Kader, a farmer and neighbor of the victim’s family.

Police and locals said Kader lured the child to his house in the morning and raped her.

Later, the locals caught him and handed him over to police.

Confirming Kader’s detention, OC Krishna said they found evidence of rape during preliminary investigation.

He added that the victim’s mother was preparing to start a case against the suspected rapist.
