BSF hands over Bangladeshi youth's body after 15 days

Members of BSF handed over the body of Bablu Mia, 24, resident of Kaliganj village in Dimla upazila, around 9pm in presence of BGB

Indian Border Security Force handed over the body of a Bangladeshi national Tuesday night, who was killed in BSF firing along Patgram border on September 3, to Dimla police station in Nilphamari.

Members of BSF handed over the body of Bablu Mia, 24, resident of Kaliganj village in Dimla upazila, around 9pm in presence of BGB. Later, police handed Babul's body over to his father Nur Mohammad.

Among others, BGB-51 commander Lt Col Ishaque Mandal, the police station Officer-in-Charge Mafiz Uddin Sheikh, Kaliganj UP member Md Jakirul Islam were present on behalf of Banglaesh while BSF-54 Deputy Commander EY Khengaru and Kuchlibari police station Officer-in-Charge Suvash Chandra Roy on behalf of India.

On September 3, BSF opened fire on Bablu and Saidul Islam, 14, when they were crossing Patgram border in Lalmonirhat with cattle, leaving Bablu dead on the spot and Saiful injured.

The BSF then took the body and also took injured Saiful to their custody.

On September 11, people from all walks of life participated in human chain demanding to send back the body.
