Armed miscreants have kidnapped six indigenous people in Bandarban.
The incident took place at Ruma upazila in the district around 1pm on Sunday.
According to police and locals, a group of 10-12 armed men, came to Shama Khal area in search of Sadar Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Shaymong Marma.
After failing to find him, those men abducted six people, including a local named Mong Ring Ong, the police said.
It is suspected that members of Mog Liberation Party may have done this.
After the incident, locals fled the area.
Joint forces are preparing an operation to rescue the kidnapped ones.
The UP Chairman Shaymong, while speaking to Dhaka Tribune, said: “The joint forces are already working to rescue the abducted men.
“We are still not sure who are involved in the kidnapping,” he added.
On August 19, three drivers were kidnapped by armed miscreants in Ruma’s Munnayam Para, who released them after four days, after collecting ransom.
