A youth has been hacked to death over an alleged business dispute in Narsingdi.

The deceased is Ruhul Amin, 22, son of Billal Mia and a resident of Brammadi area of the district.

The incident occured in Narsingdi’s Jaba textile area around 11am on Wednesday.

Syeduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narsingdi model police station said: “We are aware of the matter, but we have not received any details yet.”

Meanwhile, local sources and relatives of the deceased told Dhaka Tribune that Ruhul Amin, a paint merchant, had a business dispute with Monir Hossain, who is an employee of local satellite retailer Sarwar Hossain.

Following the dispute, Monir, Sarwar’s son Tanzil, and two other youths named Choton and Hridoy, called Ruhul to the field and indiscriminately hacked him with sharp weapons.

Hearing Ruhul’s screams, locals rescued him from the scene and took him to Narsingdi District Hospital, where the on-duty doctors announced him dead.

“We suspect that Ruhul died on the spot because of excessive bleeding. We found 10/12 mortal wounds on his chest and back,” Dr M N Mizanur Rahman, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital, said.

Alamin, Ruhul’s younger brother, said: “My brother got the contract of around 300 satelite connections in the area and got into a dispute with Tanzil and Monir, which is why they took revenge.”

“We demand justice for the crime,” he added.
