In Gopalganj, a businessman was killed when a pickup-van overturned near Gopinath on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway
At least three people including two children were killed in road accidents in Bhola, Gopalganj, and Panchagarh yesterday.
In Bhola, a fourth-grader was killed when an auto-rickshaw ran him over near Foraji Bazar area on the Bhola-Charfesson regional Highways.
The deceased identified as Shimul, 14, was a student of Mijipara Government Primary School.
Confirming the matter, Mir Khairul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lalmohon police station said, police rushed to the spot after being informed, recovered the body, and sent it to Bhola Sadar hospital for autopsy.
In Gopalganj, a businessman was killed when a pickup-van overturned near Gopinath on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway.
The deceased was identified as Mitun Sarkar, 28, son of Noni Gopal Sarkar from Rudragati village of Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila.
Confirming the matter, Ataur Rahman, inspector of Bhanga highway police station said: ''Mitun Sarkar was heading to Dhaka on a fish laden pickup van. On the way, the pick van's front wheel burst, and it fell into a ditch, leaving Mitun Sarkar, and the driver critically injured.
The injured were rushed to Gopalganj Sadar hospital, where duty doctors declared Mitun dead. The dead body was handed over to the deceased's family, he added.
In Panchagarh, a schoolgirl was killed when a truck ran her over near Shalbahan area of Tetulia upazila.
The deceased, identified as Sadia, was a ninth-grader of Shalbahan Girls School, and the daughter of Israfil Hossain of Tetulia.
Tetulia model police station OC Jahurul Islam said: ''Sadia was on a bicycle taking lunch to her father who works at an Aluminium shop. On her way, a truck ran over her, leaving her dead on the spot.
Locals set the truck on fire after the accident; the driver Krishna Kanta Roy was arrested.
