A male madrasa student was raped every night last week ,at a residential madrasa by its principal in Aramnagar area of Joypurhat town.

The accused was identified as Ayub Ali, principal of Aramnagar Hafijiya Madrasa. He is the son of Nasir Uddin from Kamia Danga village of Dhamoirhat upazila of Nagaon district.

The minor boy, a student of third grade, was severely injured when he escaped the madrasa on Sunday and informed his family about being violated. He was then admitted to Joypurhat Modern District Hospital.

Mubinul Islam, a doctor of the surgery at the hospital, said: “The boy is undergoing treatment. We found injuries in his anus that confirms that he has been sexually violated.”

After people came to know about Ayub’s crimes, he shut his madrasa down and went into hiding. Around 15 students from poor families used to study at the madrasa. Locals and guardians of the students claimed that Ayub used to threaten the boys in different ways and used to rape one of them every night.

The boy’s father, who is a rickshaw-van driver by profession, filed a case with Joypurhat Sadar police station on Sunday night.

Joypurhat sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Raihan Hossain, said: “The ailing minor’s father has filed the case, and we are trying to find the teacher. Police have found evidence of the incident after primary investigation.”

Agitated locals and local Islamic leaders[1] were outraged by the incident and demanded strict punishment  and swift justice for Ayub for his atrocities.
