Bangladeshi youth shot dead in New York

Two more were injured in the shooting, and are undergoing treatment at the hospital

A Bangladeshi youth has been killed in a shooting on Monday in Jamaica, a neighbourhood in the New York City borough of Queens.

The deceased was identified as Md Shahed Uddin (27). Shahed’s father Babar Uddin is the president of Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal’s US unit.

Two more were injured in the shooting, and are undergoing treatment at the hospital. One of the injured is from Sylhet, while the nationality of the other injured is not known.

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said the firing took place in front of a nightclub in Richmond Hill area, regarding a feud between two groups at around 4.30 am local time. Shahed was shot when two parties exchanged fire. The duty doctors declared Shahed dead when he was taken to Jamaica Hospital.

Shahed hailed from Maghdhara Union of Sandwip upazila of Chittagong.
