In two separate incidents, one was lynched and the other was killed by a group of alleged robbers
Two people have been beaten to death in separate robbery incidents at different places in Narsingdi district.
The incidents took place on Monday night.
Rejaul Karim, 17, was killed by a group of suspected robbers at his own house in Sekandardi village under Palash upazila.
Confirming the matter, Palash police station Inspector (investigation) Golam Mostofa said: “A group of suspected robbers broke into Rejaul’s house around 1:30am on Monday.
“They robbed Rejaul’s father by threatening him with sharp weapons. When Rejaul intervened, the robbers injured him severely,” he said.
Both Rejaul and his father were sent to Palash Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
In a separate incident, a suspected robber, Zakir Hossain, 32, was killed in a mob lynching in Telia area under Shibpur upazila.
The incident took place around 3am on the same day, confirmed Shibpur model police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rafiqul Islam.
He said: “Zakir was lynched by the villagers because of his suspicious behavior.”
We have arrested three people, named Tuhin, Nazmul and Amir Hossain, in connection with the lynching case, SI Rafiqul added.
Police recovered both the bodies and sent them for autopsy in Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
