2 killed in Ashulia road accident

Both victims were bus assistants of AhadParibahan.

Two transport workers have been killed in a road accident on the Nabinagar-Chandra highway near Kabirpur area in Dhaka's Savarupazila.

The accident took place in the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased were Jahangir, 40, and Jolil, 42, both of whom hailed from Pabna district. The two were bus assistants of AhadParibahan.

Confirming the matter, Salna highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Islam told Dhaka Tribune: "While leaving North Bengal, a bus of AhadParibahan stopped workingon the Nabinagar-Chandra highway near Kabirpur area."

A group of bus assistants towed the broken bus with the help of another car, whenanother bus named BikolParibahan, coming from the opposite direction, ran over the two victims, he added.

Police reached the scene and recovered the bodies. Later, the bodies were brought to the police station to be handed over to their respective families, OC Mojibur said.

A case is set to be filed in this connection with the Salna highway police station, the OC concluded.
