Rohingyas reportedly gun down Cox's Bazar Jubo League leader

Police have recovered the bullet-riddled body of a Jubo League leader, who was allegedly shot by Rohingya miscreants, in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.

The incident occurred at Jadimura area of Hnila union around 10pm on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 30, president of the union's Jubo League ward 9 and son of Mohammad Monaf from the same area.

Witnesses alleged that a group of Rohingya miscreants --led by one Selim -- picked up Faruk from in front of his residence and took him to a nearby hill, where they shot him dead.

Faruk's brother Amir Hamza said after hearing of the incident, he, along with other relatives, tried to recover Omar's body, but they were stopped by a group of Rohingya extremists.

Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf police station ABMS Doha said: "We are yet to find out the motive behind the murder."

He added: "But we are investigating to arrest the miscreants responsible."
