Police took into custody seven men on Tuesday over these incidents that took place in Narayanganj, Madaripur and Chapainawabganj.

Meanwhile, doctors on Tuesday  confirmed that they found signs of rape on a girl’s body that was found in an abandoned train in Kamalapur, Dhaka on Monday.

In Narayanganj, police arrested three men over a gang-rape and another over a rape attempt in two upazilas.

In Sonargaon, police arrested three out of five men accused of raping a professional dancer in Darikandi area under Sanmandi union.

Sonargaon police OC Moniruzzaman said they arrested three men in connection with the gang-rape and produced them before a local court on Tuesday  afternoon. “They have confessed to committing the crime. We are trying to arrest the other two."

The arrestees were identified as Mahmudul Hasan Himel, Shafiqur Islam Rony and Sajib. The other two accused — Sanjid and Siam — are currently on the run.

According to case details, the victim and her husband run a dance group and perform at local events. On Monday evening, they were hired to perform at an event at Darikandi.

Prime accused Himel tricked the woman and another performer named Mamun, and took them into a nearby field where the other four accused were waiting. There, they took turns in raping the woman while keeping Mamun silent by threatening to kill him. The five fled the scene afterwards.

Later on the day, the woman filed the case at Sonargaon police station after receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

She filed a case against him on Monday night at Fatullah police station.

According to case details, Ripon and his family and the girl lived in separate rooms at a flat in Nayabazar area. Finding the girl alone at home on Sunday morning, Ripon tried to force himself on her. The girl, however, managed to stop him before he could rape her and hid in her room.

Fatullah model police OC Aslam Hossain confirmed that they sent the accused to court on Tuesday  after arresting him.

In Madaripur, police detained two men on Tuesday morning for allegedly raping two schoolgirls at Panchkhola of Sadar upazila on the night before.

According to the girls, they met Rubel Molla, 20, and Masud Morol, 30, while strolling on the bank of Madaripur Lake on Monday evening. When they went to the launch terminal around 9pm, the men offered them to cross the river on their boat.

After the girls accepted their offer, Masud went on to rape one of the girls, who is 19 years old, on the boat and Rubel raped the other girl, who is 14, on the bank of the river before leaving them there.

Panchagarh girl found dead in Dhaka was raped

Madrasa student Asma Akhter, 17, found dead in the toilet of an abandoned train compartment in Kamalapur on Monday, was raped, say forensic experts.

After getting the forensic report on Tuesday , Pradip Biswas, lecturer of forensic department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said: ‘‘We have found evidence that the girl was raped and then strangled to death. But to confirm the rape, a sample from the girl has been taken and sent to pathology.’’

He added that the girl had defensive injury marks.

Dhaka Railway Police Station Sub Inspector Md Ali Akbar recovered the body of the girl.

SI Md Ali Akbar suspects the cause of death was strangulation. “The actual cause and circumstance for her death, and whether she was raped or not, can only be determined from the findings of her autopsy,” he added.

At the DMC morgue, the victim’s uncle Raju Ahmed said she was the daughter of Abdur Razzaque of Konpara village in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila.

“We have come to know that a local man named Badhan, also a student of the same madrasa, lured her out. He has also been missing since Sunday,” according to Asma’s uncle.
