3 more die of dengue

The unofficial death toll now stands at over 105

Three more dengue patients have died of dengue in Naryanganj, Faridpur, and Shariatpur despite a downtrend in fresh dengue cases across the country.

In Narayanganj, Fatema Akhter, 25, hailing from Bandar upazila of district, died at Mitford Hospital, in Dhaka on Tuesday.

She had been suffering from dengue and breathed her last at the ICU unit of the hospital. 

In Faridpur, Shaheb Ali, 38, hailing from Rajbari district, died at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the matter, hospital Director Dr Kamoda Prasad Saha said: "Shaheb was admitted to the hospital on Monday in critical condition. He died later at night."

In Shariatpur, housewife Suraiya Begum, 35, wife of Kamal Dhali, died after being infected with dengue at her house in Damuda upazila, said former upazila health and family planning officer Dr Syed Anowar Hossain. 

She was diagnosed with dengue on Aug 16. 

Civil Surgeon Dr Md Khalilur Rahman said so far 326 dengue patients were identified. Currently, 56 patients were being treated at hospitals in the district.

As of August 20, a total of 54,797 people have been affected by dengue.

A total 40 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 19, according to DGHS data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 104, so far.
