15 killed in road accidents across Bangladesh

Several others were also injured in the accidents

Fifteen people were killed and six others injured in separate road accidents in seven districts across Bangladesh.

The accidents occurred on Sunday.

In Comilla, eight people were killed and at least four others injured in a road-accident when a cng-run three wheeler collided head-on with a bus on the Comilla-Noakhali Highway in Jamtola of Lalmai upazila.

Of the eight, six were from the same family.

The deceased are, Jasim Uddin,45, his mother Sakina Begum,70, wife Selina Begum,40, son Sipan,23, and Ripat,8, daughter Nipu,13, Jamal Hossain,30, driver of the three wheeler, and Shaimun,15, a hotel assistant.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abdullah Al Mamun said: "The accident happened because of frequent lane changing. We are investigating the case closely."

In Dhaka, a man was killed in a road accident in the North Badda area. 

Deceased Shahirul, 40, was found injured in front of a local hotel around 7am, beside the Badda foot overbridge.

A pedestrian named Shakil took Shahirul to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the duty doctors declared him dead.

DMCH police outpost In-Charge, Bachchu Mia, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

In Lakshmipur, Ibrahim, a 17-year-old college student,  was killed in a road accident on GB road. He was a student of class eleven at Dala Bazar Degree College. 

Azizul Rahman, inspector of Lakshmipur police station, said: "Ibrahim lost control of his bike and fell into a ditch. He suffered severe head injuries."

He was taken to a local hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

In Gopalganj, two were killed and one other injured in two separate road accidents in two areas of the district.

In Muksudpur, a 70-year-old elderly man named Nurul Morol was standing beside his house when a Dhaka-bound Sugandha Paribahan bus ran him over in Domrakandi of the upazila.

In Kashiani, Habib Sharif, 40, was riding a motorcycle when a Dhaka-bound bus hit him head-on, killing Habib and injuring one Enayet Hossain.

Kashiani police station OC Azizur Rahman said: "We arrested Raju the bus driver. We are working on the case."

In Tangail, a man named Al Amin, 20, was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Asherpur of Sadar upazila.

Elenga Highway police outpost In-Charge, Basudev Sinha said: "Al Amin was walking to his workplace when an unidentified Dhaka-bound vehicle ran him over. He later died in the hospital."

In Satkhira, a man was killed when he ran his speeding motorcycle into a roadside pillar on the Bypass road in Debnagar.   His motorcycle passenger was injured.

Satkhira Sadar police station OC Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the incident and said: "Sagor Hossain died in the hospital where his friend Rahmat is in critical condition."

In Habiganj, a police constable named Ashraful Islam, 30, was killed as his motor-cycle collided head-on with a private car on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway around Mugkandi area of Bahubal upazila.

Bahubal Model police station OC Mohammad Kamruzzaman confirmed the incident and said: "Ashraful was working as a constable under Sylhet Metropolitan Police (CMP)."
