4 million pieces of seized shrimp fry released into the Rupsha River

Bangladesh Coast Guard seized around 40 lakh pieces of shrimp fry (hatchling) worth Tk80 lakh from the Khan Jahan Ali bridge area in Rupsha upazila of Khulna.

Under the Coast Guards' special drive for preservation of fish, and hatchlings, members of the Coast Guard conducted the drive. The seized hatchlings were later released into the Rupsha River, said Coast Guard west zone Lieutenant Al Mahmud in a press briefing.

"West zone of the Coast Guard is actively conducting drives to maintain the rule of law regarding narcotic businesses, and illegal shrimp, and faisha fish businesses.”

On Friday, the same coast guard team recovered a deer skin, and transferred it to Kalabogi forest office, he added.

He further added that some poachers are a threat to the deer in Sundarbans, and Bangladesh Coast Guard is trying it's best to prevent illegal deer poaching.
