Around seven women or girls have been raped in the upazila so far

A 14-year-old girl has reportedly been gang raped in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali.

The incident took place in the Baraitala area in Char Alauddin village under Mohammadpur union on Thursday midnight.

The victim was taken to Noakhali General Hospital Friday morning.

She claimed that two men - Hossain Bepari, 45, and Sohel, 24 - dragged her to a nearby fish farm and raped her in turns. They also recorded the heinous act and threatened to make it viral if she disclosed any information  about the incident.

At one point, when she attempted to escape, Hossain tried to murder her by stepping on her throat, leaving her unconscious.

She said there were two other people in the fish farm. Later, her parents and sister rescued her from the farm and admitted her to Noakhali General Hospital.

The hospital’s Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Syed Abdul Azim confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune, saying that she was currently under treatment in the gynaecology ward.

He said the allegation of rape can only be confirmed after the victim is examined.

Char Jabbar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahed Uddin said: "We are investigating the matter. The victim’s sister has filed a case over the matter, accusing four people: Ali Hossain, Sohail, Didar, and Chowdhury."
