4 killed in Narsingdi road accident

Four others sustained injuries in the incident

Four people, including three university students, have been killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a car at Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi.

The deceased are Sadia Akter, 26, Jannat, 25, and Akib, 27, MBA students of The Millennium University in Dhaka, and husband of Sadia, Imran Hossain, 35. 

Deputy Assistant Director Shafiqul Islam of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Narsingdi said the four went to have a picnic in Sylhet and were returning to Dhaka. They were travelling in a car which Imran was driving.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Karar Char area around 2am on Saturday, when a Sylhet-bound Shyamoli Paribahan bus collided with the car.

Due to the impact of the crash, the car got mangled while the bus fell into a roadside ditch, he said.

Three of the car passengers died on the spot, he said.

Five passengers, one from the car and four from the bus, were injured in the accident and taken to Narsingdi District Hospital, Shafiqul added.

Of the injured, Sadia was declared dead at the hospital, Resident Medical Officer Md Mizanur Rahman said.

Later, the remaining four injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, he said.
