Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Tungipara in Gopalganj to pay rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She is also set to join other programs there for the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation and the National Mourning Day on Thursday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office sources, the premier is set to leave Dhaka for Tungipara, the ancestral home of Bangabandhu, by an Air Force helicopter in the morning.
The prime minister will be flying to Tungipara after placing wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait at Dhaka's Dhanmondi 32, as part of the national programs, marking the National Mourning Day.
The premier is also set to visit Dhaka’s Banani graveyard and spread flower petals on the graves of the martyrs of the August 15 carnage and join a praying sermon there.
After arriving at Tungipara Upazila Complex Helipad, the premier will be visiting mazar (shrine) of Bangabandhu.
She will be offering her respect, wreaths and join a prayer ceremony seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 massacre.
Earlier, a smartly turned out contingent is set to be drawn from the three services to give a guard of honour on the occasion, while bugle will play the last post.
The prime minister along with cabinet members, party leaders and workers will also join a milad and a prayer ceremony on the mazar premises to be organized by the cabinet division and Gopalganj district administration.
After attending the National Mourning Day programs in Tungipara, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to return in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
