A security guard of an ATM booth of AB Bank was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in the Board Bazar area of Gazipur town early yesterday.
The deceased was Md Jahangir, 45, son of Mohammad Ali, hailing from the Char Pubail village of the Iswarganj upazila in the Mymensingh district.
Md Ismail Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Gazipur Metropoliton police station said the accident took place around 4:45 am when a group of miscreants entered into the booth of AB Bank and attacked Jahangir. At one stage, they hacked him indiscriminately with a knife in different parts of his body and fled the scene.
In the morning, when a customer went to withdraw money from the booth, he spotted the body and informed police.
Later, the police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.
The killer didn't take any money or anything from the booth.
The bank's CC camera is being monitored and trying to identify the killer, the OC said.
