Bullet-riddled body recovered in Kushtia border

Union Parishad chairman accused BSF for the killing

Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a bullet-riddled body from Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district.

The body was recovered from Charpara border area, under Ramkrishnapur union of the upazila on Sunday. 

The deceased is Robi, 30, son of Janu Mondol, from Haiderchar village in Chilmari union of the upazila.

Captain of BGB 47 Mohishkundi Company, Subedar Jahangir Alam, said Robi was killed over a personal conflict related to fishing.

Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mohammad Siraj Mandal claimed: “Robi was shot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) as he was illegally trading cows through the border. 

“He died instantly while his associates managed to flee.” 

However, BGB denied the allegations against BSF. 

The deceased’s family could not be reached for comments.
