One of the accidents also left five others injured

Eight people, including a child, have been killed, and five others injured in separate accidents in Bandarban, Tangail, Bagerhat, Thakurgaon, and Bogra districts.

The seven accidents happened in five districts, with three accidents taking place in Tangail alone.

In Bandarban, a battery run three-wheeler, locally known as Tomtom, ran over a five-year-old in Alikadam upazila, killing him on the spot.

The accident happened in Reparpara area under Choikhang union of the upazila, around 12pm on Sunday.

The deceased is Md Mizan, son of Abul Hossain from the same area.

Witnesses said Mizan was crossing the road when he got hit. His father, with the help of locals, took him to the nearby Lama Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Choikhang Union Parishad Chairman Ferdous Rahman confirmed the matter.

In Tangail’s Mirzapur upazila, a Tangail bound bus ran over an autorickshaw, killing three, including a couple, in the Deohata area.

The accident occurred on Sunday morning.

The deceased are Taslima Begum, 28, her husband Jahangir, 35, son of Pakhi Shikder from Chandulia village of Bahuria union of the upazila, and Shariful, 40, son of Falu Mia from Baimhati Adalatpara village in Mirzapur Sadar.

Sub Inspector (SI) of Mirzapur police station Abdus Samad said: “Taslima died on the spot. The two injured were admitted to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital, they died while undergoing treatment.”

“The bus is in our custody, but the driver managed to flee,” he added.

In Tangail’s Ghatail upazila, a truck ran over a van, killing one passenger, and injuring five others in Garo Bazar area. 

The accident occurred early Sunday.

The deceased is Kalam Mia, 50, son of Afasar Ali from Chariabaid village of the same upazila.

The injured have been admitted to a local hospital.

Sub Inspector (SI) of Ghatail upazila’s Sagardighi police investigation centre, Fazlul Haque, confirmed the matter.

In Tangail’s Delduar upazila, a wood laden truck fell into a roadside canal while giving a pass to an incoming bus in Mohera Signboard area, killing one on the spot.

The accident occurred early Sunday.

The deceased is Shorhab Hossain, 50, son of Sadar Uddin Mondol from Boro Kanchanpur village of Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur.

Sub Inspector (SI) of Delduar police station Abdul Hannan said: “Shorhab was a labourer.”

In Bagerhat, an easy-bike hit a van, killing a fifth grade student on the spot.

The incident happened in Morrelganj-Tetulbaria highway around 11am on Sunday.

The deceased is identified as Shrishti Akhter, 11, daughter of Rasul Hawlader from Gowalbaria village of Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat.

Morrelganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Azizul Islam said, Shristi was on her way to school to sit for an exam. When her bag fell off, she lost balance, and fell down. 

In Thakurgaon, a motorcyclist has been killed in a road accident.

The incident happened in Puratan bus stand area around 2:30am on Sunday.

The deceased is identified as Lokhi Chandra, 28, son of Paharia Chandra from Dolua village of Birganj upazila in Dinajpur district.

Locals said Lokhi was travelling to Grameen Eye hospital. When he stopped at Enamul pump, he was crushed under a truck, killing him on the spot.

Thakurgaon sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashiqur Rahman confirmed the matter.

In Bogra, a trader has been killed in a road accident when a truck carrying stones collided with another truck.

The incident happened near Islampur area at Bogra-Natore highway around 6am on Sunday.

The deceased is identified as Haider Ali Pramanik, 40, son of Ahad Pramanik from Ishwardi upazila.

Kundarhat highway police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kajol Kumar Nandi said, a truck carrying stones lost control, and crashed into another truck. The front part of the truck was badly damaged, killing the passenger inside on the spot.

An unnatural death case has been filed with Nandigram police station.
