The robbers looted 15 tons brass scrap worth Tk6,055,000
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested eight dacoits with 5.5 tons of raw materials for steel.
They were arrested from different parts of the country including Dhaka, confirmed DB Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam in a press briefing on Saturday.
The arrestees are -- Md Shopon, Md Jalil Khan, Md Jalal Howlader, Md Mozammel Haque Shisheer, Md Monir Hossain, Md Shahidul Islam, Md Enamul Haque, and Md Sohail Rana.
Police recovered 5.5 tons of raw materials for steel, a locksmith’s cutter used for the robbery, two machetes, and three knives from their possession.
Joint Commissioner Mahbub said: “A gang of robbers entered KB Metal Works in Gaz Mahal Sakin area in Dhaka’s old town on June 29.
The robbers tied down the caretaker and security guard, and looted 15 tons brass scrap worth Tk6,055,000.”
After primary interrogation, the DB official said the arrestees were robbing gold shops, wholesale rice store, loaded trucks with goods, passenger buses, various showrooms, and warehouses.
The robbers are active members of an inter-district robbery group, he added.
