Four killed by lightning strikes in Thakurgaon

The incidents took place in Baliadangi and Ranisankail upazilas on Tuesday afternoon

Four people were killed and 10 others injured by separate lightning strike incidents in Thakurgaon.

The incidents took place in Baliadangi and Ranisankail upazilas on Tuesday afternoon.

In Baliadangi, two people died on the spot and 10 others suffered injuries when a thunderbolt struck them harvesting a mango orchard in Badambari village around 3:30pm, said Baliadangi police station OC, Mosabberul Haque.

The deceased were identified as Robiul Islam, 28, and Nurul Islam, 43, 

Elsewhere in the same upazila, farmer Abdul Jabbar, 45, was struck by lightning working in his paddy field near his home in Dalalbosti village, leaving him dead on the spot, added the OC.

In Ranisankail, a teenage boy was struck by lightning in Alsia village and died on the spot, said Ranisankail police station OC Abdul Mannan.

The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed, 17, the police official said.
