Armed attackers on motorcycles blocked his way and slit his throat
Awami League leader Alamgir Shikdar, 38, has been hacked to death by miscreants in the Lama upazila of Bandarban.
Deceased Alamgir was the general secretary of the Sarai union Awami League of the Lama upazila.
Local sources said around 12 to 15 armed miscreants blocked Alamgir's way while he was going to a garden in the Hasnapara area around 11pm on Tuesday.
Later, the attackers held him against a motorcycle and slit his throat. However, the locals managed to seize two motorcycles but the attackers were able to flee the scene.
Lama Municipality Mayor Jahirul Islam said: "The attackers suddenly came, killed him, and fled."
Alamgir was the son of the ex-chairman of Sarai union, Md Ali. The locals are terrified after his death.
Lama police station acting officer-in-charge Appela Raju Naha has said: "We do not know who was behind the murder.
“The corpse of the deceased has been sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue.”
Earlier in the morning, the president of Bandarban's Roangchari upazila Awami League Mong Mong Thoai Marma was shot dead by miscreants.
