The fire originated from an air conditioner
A fire had broken out at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in the port city, with no reported casualties.
According to Chittagong Fire Service, the fire broke out around 5am on Tuesday on the ground floor of the hospital.
The fire originated from an air conditioner of a doctor’s room at the hospital’s psychiatric ward.
On information, nine fire fighting vehicles rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 6am, said Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chittagong Fire Service.
"The damage due to the fire was ascertained at Tk50,000. There has been no casualties whatsoever," said Jasim.
CMCH, the lone tertiary level hospital in the district with 1,313 beds, provides healthcare services to over 2,500 patients every day.
