In Narayanganj, police arrested a teenager in a case filed for raping a physically challenged nine-year-old boy in the Araihazar upazila.

Police arrested the accused on Friday night. Earlier that day, the child was raped in the Mukundi Gazipura area of the upazila.

According to the case statement, the accused abducted the boy behind a local madrasa and raped him. Locals rescued the severely injured boy to the Upazila Health Complex and he was later transferred to Victoria Hospital in Narayanganj.

Araihazar police station OC Nazrul Islam said the accused is currently under interrogation.

In Madaripur, police arrested a 76-year-old man in a case filed for reportedly raping a teenager in the Kalkini upazila.

The accused, Md Afiruddin Matubbor, hails from the west Komlaur village of the Kalkini upazila, confirmed Dasar police station OC Nasir Uddin.

However, the family of the accused claimed the girl's family lodged a false case as they have a land dispute going on.

According to the case, Afiruddin raped the girl in his room, when she brought him water from a tube-well at his request on Friday afternoon. Later the girl's family assaulted Afiruddin and handed him over to the police.

Afiruddin's daughter Shahnaz said: "My father is almost 80 years old. As we have no brother, he transferred all of the property to us daughters by a will. A false case of rape was filed by our rivals in connection with the matter."

In Satkhira, a man was arrested in a case filed for reportedly raping an eighth grade madrasa girl of the Durgapur village in the Assasuni upazila on Saturday.

Locals caught Liton Gazi, 24, son of Asadul Gazi of the village and handed over him to police, reports UNB

Quoting locals, police said Liton used to stalk the victim. He went to her house on Friday night and raped her. Locals rushed in hearing the victim’s screams and caught him.

Locals said Liton is a drug addict and a drug peddler.

Assasuni police station OC Abdus Salam confirmed the incident.
