Three others were injured in the incident
At least three people were killed and four other injured in road accidents in Faridpur and Bogra yesterday.
In Faridpur, two workers were killed and three others injured as a lorry they were travelling in fell into a roadside ditch in Sadar upazila.
The accident occurred at Shibrampur on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the morning.
The deceased Kamrul Islam, 35, and Robin, 22, were construction workers.
Joynul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Karimpur Highway police station, said the Pirojpur-bound lorry coming from Dhaka fell into a ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two people dead on spot.
The injured people were sent to the Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, but the truck driver and his helper are on the run, he added.
In Bogra, a schoolboy was killed and a college student injured when their motorcycle was rear-ended by a truck in the Dharmokam area of the Sherpur upazila
The motorcycle passenger Md Rabbi, 15, an eighth-grader died on the spot and the motorcycle rider Jimam, 19, was injured.
Kajol Nondi, sub-inspector of the Kundarhat Highway police outpost, said: “The duo was returning from a wedding reception in Khanpur on a motorcycle. When they reached the Dharmokam area, a speeding truck rammed their vehicle, leaving one dead on the spot.”
Police seized the truck but its driver and his assistant made their escape.
